A consistent thread in my work has been the exploration of the photographic process, an embrace of the creative possibilities of imperfection. The new series “Traces” pushes this exploration towards the boundaries of process by delving into the photographic materials themselves, finding expression in the collision of light, chemicals, film and physical manipulation. The resulting abstractions, sometimes bold, sometimes soft, record and reveal the movements, gestures, friction, and layers of time involved in the process itself: evidence, or traces, of the artist’s hand.
